Lead Networking Engineer

The lead network engineer position will be responsible for network systems design and implementation. Additionally, the position will share the day to day administration, maintenance, documentation and problem resolution of the network environment with the other members of LAN/WAN engineering team.

The selected candidate will be held accountable for delivering a high level of customer service to all LAN/WAN engineering customers, both internal and external as well as ensuring that the network environment is performing at an optimal level and administered/maintained according to best practices and defined standards.

Responsibilities include:
  • Provide 24x7 on call service for the enterprise networking services
  • Develop, execute and oversee the implementation of project plans to meet the needs of internal and external networking needs
  • Perform system design and specification of network components in mission critical environments in accordance with defined standards
  • Assist the manager on LAN/WAN engineering in coordination, planning and providing technical services to both the internal and external customers
  • Acquisition, configure, test, implement and troubleshoot data networking system(s) to support all aspects of the day to day operation
  • Perform day to day administration and operational functions of the network environment (user definitions, port activations, IP address assignments, etc.
  • Assist in maintaining, configuring, installing and testing network hardware and software. This includes, but is not limited to routers, switches, hubs and firewalls
  • Assist in monitoring, collecting and preparing statistical data for analysis on network performance and availability (monitoring of network device logs, monitoring of port statistics)
  • Day to day level 2 problem determination and resolution of the networking environment, properly escalating problems when the need arises
  • Effectively work as member of network team and overall corporate team, providing network and security assistance to staff as required
  • Documentation of procedures/networking environment, ensuring all network documentation is accurate and up to date

The requirements for this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • 7-10 year of experience in network design, implementation, analysis and maintenance
  • Experience with network architectures and protocols
  • Solid communication and project management skills
  • Customer contact experience with demonstrated ability to provide support to users
  • Experience handling multiple projects simultaneously, multi-vendor internetworking technologies (routers, switches, firewalls, content switches), network and architecture protocols (TCP/IP, EIGRP, OSPF, RIP, BGP), WAN technologies (Frame Relay, ATM, MPLS, MAN), WPN technologies and network general sniffer technologies
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or computer engineering or the equivalent experience
  • CCIE and CCNP certifications preferred
  • Schedule: M-F 8am-5pm Overtime as needed
