The History of Net56, Inc. Where We Came From

Since its inception in 1980, Koch Technologies, Inc. (KTI), the parent company of Net56, has been providing a variety of unique software solutions. At its inception, KTI functioned primarily as a software research, design and development firm. Today, we continue to focus on providing our clients with leading-edge products, support, complete software services, and fast, reliable Internet access.

KTI began by creating systems that interfaced robotics with computerized manufacturing facilities which was accomplished using Digital minicomputers coupled with 6502, Z80, 8080, and 8086 based microcomputers to automate assembly lines and production environments. During these projects, much of our development efforts utilized the FORTRAN and Assembly languages to provide the network interfacing between computers and devices.

As the acceptance of the microcomputer in business grew, so did the demand for both low-level and high-end software applications. KTI responded by developing turnkey applications for VARs and large-scale corporate users. We provided software written in then-popular languages, such as Assembler, "C", COBOL, FORTRAN, and Pascal. KTI also provided user manuals and complete retail packaging.

As device technology was being developed faster than software products could keep up, KTI developed a line of utility software that provided peripheral bridges between software applications and scanners, input devices, graphics adapters, printers and others.

Developing device drivers for MS Windows and other environments was the next step in KTI's evolution. From 1986 to 1993, Koch was developing interfaces and drivers for Fortune 500 companies and other peripheral manufacturers. The development of ImageAwL® in 1990 built upon our past experience working with a large number of device manufacturers. ImageAwL® was designed as a raster input, device independent, application program interface for OS/2, Mac, Windows, and UNIX. It is currently being used by major peripheral manufacturers and successful application software vendors to reduce development time and support with many different raster input devices, such as scanners and digital cameras.

In 1995, KTI formed Net56, a subsidiary company providing services in all areas of Internet technology, which proved to be the logical step for a company with so much experience in device interfacing. Dedicated to the implementation of Intranets and Internet connectivity within business, Net56 helped many companies and individuals gain productivity by providing them with secure, high-speed access to the Internet and scalable enterprise solutions.

Today, KTI, doing business as Net56, Inc. is accomplished in all areas of network services, consulting, engineering, software development and Internet technology. Our expertise in system configuration and integration, as well as deploying successful enterprise applications not only meets industry standards, but provides sophisticated solutions that are more effective, immediate and less expensive resulting in positive ROI.
